Apple launched its Vision Pro, which supports over a million App Store apps, including its own first-party offerings and over 600 apps specific to the device. However, notable omissions in the launch collection include Netflix, YouTube, and Spotify. Here are some of the third-party apps that you can install on day one.
One notable third-party app available at the launch is Microsoft 365. Seven of the company’s Office apps are available for installation on day one, offering tools unique to the mixed-reality headset, like Word with a focus mode to block out distractions and a persona feature in Microsoft Teams that gives you a digital avatar.
Disney+ also offers an app for the Vision Pro, allowing users to stream content in four different 3D virtual environments. The app also supports 3D films. The library consists of popular movies such as “Avatar: The Way of Water”, “Avengers: Endgame”, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” among others, with Disney promising to expand the list over time.
Zoom’s VisionOS app will use Apple’s Personas feature, displaying users in calls as a 3D virtual avatar. The app will also allow support for 3D object sharing and the Zoom Team Chat.
The NBA app will let users stream up to five live broadcasts in multi-view and display game scores and stats. The MLB app offers fully immersive environments with access to additional MLB.TV content for subscribers.
Max, Warner Bros. Discovery’s streaming service, is also available on Vision Pro with access to movies, series, news, and sports in 4K and Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos. There will be one virtual environment available for streaming: the Iron Throne room from “Game Of Thrones” and “House of the Dragon”.
