Reports point to a Siri-driven HomeView with an A18 chip, shipping in mid-November.
Apple is expected to unveil its long-rumoured Apple home hub on 13 October at its “Welcome home” event. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports the device will be called HomeView, will use an A18 chip, and will ship in mid-November. Here’s the TF breakdown of what the reports say and what’s missing.
What’s Happening & Why It Matters

The Event
Apple announced the event on 8 October 2026. Marketing chief Greg Joswiak posted a video of people stitching a needlepoint Apple logo. He gave no product details. The event starts at 9 am ET (3 pm CEST) on 13 October 2026.
MacRumors expects Apple to post a Newsroom press release around 9 am ET, as invited reporters get hands-on time in New York. John Ternus leads Apple as CEO. September’s launches included the iPhone 18 Pro lineup, the iPhone Duo, AirPods 5 and new Apple Watch models. The iPhone Duo goes on sale 23 October 2026.
The Hub
MacRumors reported on 9 October a shell company’s trademark filing for HomeView. Gurman credits the filing for the name. Other rumours call the device HomePad. Apple hasn’t confirmed any name.

Reports describe two versions. The countertop model has a speaker base in space grey, silver, starlight or pink. The wall-mounted model has a flat, square base in space grey or silver. Both run an A18 chip. 9to5Mac says the countertop design echoes the iMac G4, with a floating display above the base.
MacRumors cites a 6-inch square touch display, while another MacRumors guide says 7 inches. Size is unconfirmed. A front-facing camera handles FaceTime calls.
Siri and Software
Gurman calls the hub the Siri command centre of an Apple-powered home. Voice is the main control. Apple’s Siri AI is the hub’s core, along with the new HomePod mini and the new Apple TV, Euronews reports.
Reports say the hub has no App Store and a limited set of Apple apps. MacRumors lists Calendar, Camera, Apple Music, Apple Podcasts, Apple News, Reminders and Notes. MacRumors adds a new Siri app with conversation history and possible new software called homeOS, with clock faces and widgets. Reports say the hub supports multiple users and manages devices in the Apple Home app. Gurman says its sound quality will beat the new HomePod mini.
Companion Devices and Timing

Gurman reports a new Apple TV 4K and a new HomePod mini arrive on 30 October 2026, though dates could change. A faster HomePod mini chip could run an upgraded Siri, Euronews reports. HomeView follows in mid-November, about one month after the unveiling.
Rumours say Apple works with LG on smart home accessories. 9to5Mac names thermostats, door locks and doorbells. Euronews adds security cameras.
No report gives a price. My take: price is the open question. Memory costs have squeezed Apple hardware supply, as TF covered in RAMageddon Hits MacBook Air Supply as Chip Shortage Deepens. A hub with an A18 chip, a touch display and a speaker base won’t be cheap.
TF Summary: What’s Next
Apple will confirm the name, price and ship date on 13 October 2026. The Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini follow on 30 October, and the hub in mid-November. Third-party app support is the next test. Buyers will compare the hub with Amazon and Google smart displays.
MY FORECAST: Apple will confirm a mid-November ship date. Siri AI will headline the launch. Apple will price the hub at a premium to the HomePod mini. Third-party app support will arrive within a year.
