1,030 PS, a 3.2-second sprint, and a £130,000 price tag arrive two years after the “Copy Nothing” backlash. Orders open in early 2027.
Jaguar unveiled the Type 01, its first electric four-door GT, in New York on 6 October 2026. It’s the first production Jaguar on the brand’s new electric platform and the most powerful Jaguar road car ever. The UK price starts at £130,000, and the US price at $130,500 (€116,000). Orders open in 2027, with first deliveries in the second half of the year.
The wait was long. Jaguar’s “Copy Nothing” rebrand in November 2024 showed models, not cars, and the backlash was loud. The Type 01 gives the rebrand a car to defend.
What’s Happening & Why It Matters
The Numbers
Three motors, one at the front and two at the rear, deliver up to 1,030 PS (1,015 hp) and 1,365 Nm (1,007 lb-ft) of torque. Jaguar claims 0-62 mph in 3.2 seconds and 62-112 mph in 4.0 seconds. A 118 kWh usable battery feeds an 850-volt system.
Jaguar expects up to 400 miles (644 km) of EPA range, falling to about 320 miles (515 km) at sustained highway speed. Its WLTP figure is up to 450 miles (720 km). A 350 kW charger adds up to 200 miles (321 km) in about 13 minutes. Homologation isn’t complete, so Forbes calls the charging and range figures provisional.
JLR says data from more than 900,000 vehicles in 51 countries show the range covers 99.7% of journeys, Hagerty reports.

A Dedicated Platform, Built in Britain
The Type 01 rides on Jaguar Electric Architecture, a platform built for electric cars. It shares nothing with the Range Rover electric platform, DriveSpark reports. Production starts in 2027 at JLR’s Solihull plant on a dedicated line. Drive units and battery packs come from Wolverhampton, and body panels from Halewood.
The rear three-quarter panel, called “the Impossible Panel” inside Jaguar, takes a six-stage pressing process and 2,500 tons of force, per JLR. The long bonnet echoes the 1960s E-Type, and 23-inch wheels fill the arches.
Inside the Cabin
A single glass 24-inch OLED screen spans the dash, with a seven-inch smartphone-style touchscreen in the centre for key functions. The control stalks integrate into a single bar behind the wheel, DriveSpark notes. A central spine splits the cabin into four individual spaces, finished in brass-effect anodised aluminium. The Type 01 seats four, and its audio system includes a full-width Panoramic Soundbar.

Two Years After “Copy Nothing”
Jaguar showed the Type 00 concept in Miami in December 2024, weeks after a rebrand ad with no cars drew uproar. Critics, including Reform UK leader Nigel Farage, predicted it would fail. The production car arrived more than a year late, Hagerty reports, after shifting EV market conditions and one of the costliest cyberattacks in history at JLR.
Managing Director Rawdon Glover said more than 50,000 people have registered interest, and 78% of them are new to Jaguar, DesignRush reports. Registered interest isn’t a signed order. “We don’t anticipate this car being for everyone,” Glover said, according to InsideEVs Actor Florence Pugh is Jaguar’s inaugural brand ambassador for the new era.
How It Stacks Up
Bentley’s Torcal makes 888 PS and 1,350 Nm and costs £173,000 ($230,000, €205,000), as TF covered in Bentley’s First EV Has Live Musicians Instead of an Engine. Its WLTP range is up to 375 miles (600 km). The Type 01 offers more power, more torque, and 75 more miles of WLTP range for £43,000 less. Bentley claims 2.8 seconds to 60 mph against Jaguar’s 3.2 to 62.
At recent exchange rates, £130,000 is about $176,000 (€157,000), so the US price is far lower. UK prices include 20% VAT. Jaguar expects the Type 01 to be the first of three new electric designs, BM Magazine reports.
TF Summary: What’s Next
Orders open in 2027, and first deliveries arrive in the second half of the year, per JLR. Production starts at Solihull in 2027. Jaguar plans two more new electric designs after the Type 01. Charging and range figures are provisional until homologation is complete.
MY FORECAST: Expect Jaguar to convert a fraction of its 50,000 registered prospects into orders when books open in 2027. Expect the Type 01 to sell in small numbers in its first year, as a halo for the brand. Expect the next two electric Jaguars to carry lower prices, because the brand needs volume. Watch the final EPA and WLTP figures, which will show whether 400 miles holds up.
