Apple’s iPhone 16 Pro could face stiff competition from other flagship Android phones, as per leaked A18 Pro benchmarks showing the potential strengths of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 and Dimensity 9400 chipsets compared to Apple’s A18 Pro.

What’s Happening & Why This Matters

Leaked benchmarks for the A18 Pro chip have suggested improvements to both its single-core and multi-core performance, but it may be outperformed by upcoming chips from Qualcomm and MediaTek. The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are anticipated to be equipped with the A18 Pro chip, succeeding Apple’s 3nm A17 Pro mobile processor.

These (very early) benchmarks show that the A18 Pro chip scored 3,570 points in single-core performance and 9,310 points in multi-core performance. That’s approximately 23% and 29% increase respectively compared to A17 Pro scores in the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 and Dimensity 9400 chipsets are expected to surpass the A18 Pro in multi-core performance based on their leaked benchmarks. Each processor had single-core scores of 2,845 and 2,776 points and multi-core scores of 10,628 and 11,739 points, respectively.
