Rami Sinno, director of engineering at Annapurna, a division within Amazon, points out that this ambitious initiative requires a full system approach. “It’s not just about the chip, it’s about the full system,” he says.

Amazon’s long-term vision for AI infrastructure is to build systems that can scale as their workloads grow, all while using proprietary software and architecture. “It’s really hard to do what we do at scale. Not too many companies can,” Sinno adds, stressing the complexity of such a large-scale undertaking.
