Reports point to an OLED MacBook Pro with Dynamic Island, and Apple has not confirmed any product
The Apple MacBook Pro event, titled “Pro and tell,” takes place on 28 October in Los Angeles. TF explains what Apple confirmed, what the reports expect and where the sources disagree.
What’s Happening & Why It Matters
What Apple Confirmed
Apple sent invites for a special event at 10 a.m. PT on Wednesday 28 October, 9to5Mac reports. Marketing chief Greg Joswiak posted on social media he can’t wait to “pro and tell” next week. The invite names no product, chip, screen size or price.

The event is Apple’s second in October. The first, held on 13 October, was New Apple Products: HomeView, Apple TV 4K, HomePod.
The Touchscreen MacBook Pro
Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman expects 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with OLED touchscreens. The Dynamic Island would replace the notch, a first for a Mac. The models would be lighter than the current line. Tech Times adds a reinforced hinge to limit screen bounce.
Gurman expects the M5 Pro and M5 Max chips in these models. Tech Times says he revised earlier M6 Pro and M6 Max reports in June 2026. A touchscreen would reverse Apple’s long-standing stance against touch on the Mac.
The Rest of the Lineup
Bloomberg expects an entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro and a refreshed iMac, both with the M6 chip. These models should keep today’s design. A revamped iPad mini would get an OLED screen, new speakers and a relocated FaceTime camera.
TF reported the memory squeeze behind Mac supply in Ramageddon: MacBook Air Shortage, Xbox EU Prices. Component costs could shape pricing, but no source gives a price.
Where Sources Disagree
Yahoo Finance reports Bloomberg expects stores to start selling the products on Friday 6 November. 9to5Mac says the touchscreen MacBook could debut on 6 November. Neither report is an Apple confirmation.
Tech Times describes an in-person hands-on event for press and creators, rather than a public keynote. The report adds Gurman expects product announcements on the evening of 27 October. 9to5Mac does not say whether Apple will livestream. TF treats the format as unconfirmed.

My take: A touchscreen Mac is the biggest change to the Mac line in years. Apple must prove the touch interface works with macOS and does not blur the iPad line. Pricing will decide demand, and OLED models should cost more than the current mini-LED line. Buyers should wait for Apple’s pricing before they plan upgrades.
TF Summary: What’s Next
Apple will announce its products at the 28 October event, or the evening before. Reviewers will test touch input, battery life and weight. Apple has to state prices and ship dates. Gurman expects the event to close Apple’s major 2026 hardware launches.
MY FORECAST: Apple will launch an OLED MacBook Pro with a touchscreen at the event. The OLED MacBook Pro will cost more than the current 14-inch model. Stores will start sales by mid-November. Rivals will announce touchscreen laptop updates within a year.
