The new models start at $1,999 and $1,499, with pre-orders on 28 October and shipping from 6 November

TF has the latest updates as Apple has launched the M6 MacBook Pro, a 14-inch refresh with Wi-Fi 7 from $1,999 (about €1,779).

An M6 iMac arrived the same day. MacRumors expects touchscreen OLED MacBook Pro models at Apple’s Wednesday event.

What’s Happening & Why It Matters

14-inch MacBook Pro Changes

Apple (@Apple) kept the design and swapped in the M6 chip. The CPU has 12 cores, split into 2 super cores, 4 performance cores and 6 efficiency cores. The GPU grows from 10 cores to 12 cores. Apple claims up to 30% faster graphics than the M5. Apple quotes up to 25% faster AI workloads and 1.3 times the overall performance.

The Neural Engine doubles to 32 cores in total. Memory bandwidth rises from 153GB/s to 170GB/s on the 24GB and 32GB configurations. Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 come from Apple’s N1 wireless chip. The laptop drives two external 4K displays at up to 165Hz, up from 144Hz.

Price, Storage and Dates

The base model costs $1,999 (about €1,779) and starts with 16GB of memory and 1TB of storage. The base storage doubles the M5 entry level, since Apple dropped the 512GB option in March. Buyers can configure up to 32GB of memory and 4TB of storage, in Space Black or Silver.

Pre-orders open on Wednesday 28 October 2026 at 10:10 a.m. Pacific Time. The laptop reaches buyers on Friday 6 November. Apple quotes 24 hours of battery life. The ports carry over from the M5 model: HDMI, MagSafe 3, three Thunderbolt 4, SDXC and a headphone jack.

The M6 iMac

The 24-inch iMac keeps its 4.5K Retina display and seven colours: blue, green, pink, yellow, purple, orange and silver. The M6 model starts at $1,499 (about €1,334) with a 10-core CPU, a 10-core GPU and two Thunderbolt 4 ports. A 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet port adds $30 (about €27). Apple claims up to 5 times faster on-device AI than the M4 iMac. Pre-orders and shipping dates match the MacBook Pro.

The iPad mini and the Week Ahead

Apple opened the week on 26 October with a new iPad mini. The tablet has an 8.5-inch OLED display and the A20 Pro chip, built on the 2nm process of TSMC. The mini starts at $699 (about €622), up from $599 after a June rise. Prices have risen twice in 2026. TF previewed the Wednesday event in Apple Pro and Tell Event on 28 October Brings a Touchscreen MacBook Pro.

My take: The M6 MacBook Pro is a modest step. Wi-Fi 7 is overdue, the extra GPU cores help, and the 1TB base storage is a fair concession. M5 owners have little reason to upgrade. The bigger decision rests with buyers who wait for the touchscreen OLED model, since Apple has not confirmed its price. TF Summary: What’s Next

Apple’s event in Los Angeles on Wednesday should show the OLED MacBook Pro models. Reviewers will test the M6 claims once units ship on 6 November. Buyers must pick between the cheaper M6 laptop and a wait for touchscreen hardware.

MY FORECAST: Apple will announce a touchscreen OLED MacBook Pro by the end of the week. The touchscreen model will start above $2,499. Independent tests will show M6 gains under 30% in everyday work.
