Apple has officially announced its upcoming event, set for September 9 at the Apple Park campus in Cupertino, California. The event, titled It’s Glowtime, will kick off at 10:00 a.m. PST and will primarily focus on unveiling the latest iPhone 16 lineup. Other expected launches include new models of the Apple Watch and AirPods 4. Select members of the media received invitations to attend the event, which is anticipated to draw significant attention from enthusiasts, competitors, and Apple fans worldwide.

What’s Happening & Why This Matters

At the heart of this year’s event is the introduction of the iPhone 16 series, which promises some intriguing updates. All four new iPhone models will feature a customizable Action Button, offering users more control over their device’s functionality. Additionally, a new Capture Button, located just below the power button on the right side, will simplify photography by incorporating built-in gestures. These gestures include a swipe for zooming and a soft press for autofocus, making photo capture more intuitive.

The entire iPhone 16 lineup will come equipped with Apple’s latest A18 chip, enabling support for the advanced Apple Intelligence features that will be available in iOS 18. The Pro models are set to receive even more attention, with larger display sizes — 6.3 inches for the Pro and 6.9 inches for the Pro Max — along with the inclusion of the 5x Telephoto zoom option that was previously exclusive to the Pro Max.

In addition to the iPhones, Apple will also unveil updates to its Apple Watch line. The Series 10 is expected to have a slimmer design and a slightly larger display, although the changes are not expected to be drastic. The Apple Watch SE and the Apple Watch Ultra will also receive updates, with possible new health features like sleep apnea detection and blood pressure monitoring, though these features may not be ready for this year’s launch.

Furthermore, the AirPods 4 will make their debut in two versions: one as a direct successor to the AirPods 3 and another with Active Noise Cancellation, but at a price point below the Pro models.

The event will be live-streamed on Apple’s website, YouTube, and the Apple TV app, ensuring that fans who cannot attend in person can still experience the event in real-time.
