Sign-in Page Design Is Simpler and Faster
Google has officially launched a new sign-in page with a cleaner, updated design. The changes, though small, aim to enhance the user experience. These modifications are in line with the company’s Material Design concept introduced in 2014.
What’s Happening & Why It Matters
The new sign-in page is now shifted to the left and automatically adjusts to the user’s screen size. It is optimized for various devices, but may not be visible on older web browsers. The previous significant adjustment to the sign-in page was made in 2015, when Google moved the password entry to a separate page. This change was implemented to prepare for future authentication methods and minimize confusion for users with multiple Google accounts.
t/f Summary: FYI
Google has assured users that this refresh is a permanent change, akin to the integration of Gmail’s new view. The rollout of the new sign-in page will occur gradually — beginning on February 21– and expected to be completed by March 4, 2024.
