OpenAI rolled out ChatGPT’s Trusted Contact feature — allowing adult users to designate a person to be notified if automated systems detect serious self-harm risk in their conversations. The feature arrives as 24 ChatGPT-linked deaths have been documented and lawsuits from families work through the courts.
